There's been a lot of back and forth within the football gaming community this year regarding licensing, with Konami securing the AFC Champions League license and EA Sports reportedly courting the Blue Square Premier, Turkish and Brazilian leagues, but today EA have announced that they've renewed the big one. The FIFA license.
It now runs until December the 31st, 2022, so it would seem we'll be playing at least up to FIFA 2023 produced by EA Sports. In the press release, head of EA Sports Andrew Wilson confirms that after 20 years, the relationship between the two remains strong.
“Our franchise has become the benchmark for quality and innovation in the sports videogame genre, and we look forward to many more years of our games carrying the prestigious FIFA name.”
The license grants EA exclusive rights to produce "action and management videogames" and also includes the rights to the FIFA World Cup games.
