FIFA 17 TOTW Predictions - Week 15

Not quite to the same caliber of what we have been accustomed to recently but with the likes of Thiago, Silva and Sneijder all making the cut theres still some Christmas cheer to be had

Last weeks score 16/23

Formation: 3-4-2-1 - http://www.futhead.com/17/squads/3432382/

Goalkeeper

Benoit Costil - GK - 82 OVR

The keepers were difficult to select and thus for the second week running it could well end in multiple golds being selected. Costil is the first I have selected after he saved a penalty along with making five other saves in a 1-1 draw with Lille.

Defenders

Marvin Plattenhardt - LB - 77 OVR

Hertha piled on the misery for Darmstadt of whom now have nine consecutive losses in all competitions. Plattenhardt picked up MOTM with a 1.5 match rating for his goal and clean sheet in their 2-0 win. With the lack of games I would expect this to be more than enough for his inclusion.

Thiago Silva - CB - 89 OVR

I am positive on PSG picking up an IF for their 5-0 home win over Lorient however who that will be is a difficult question to answer. In my years of doing this I have noticed some players which EA seem to give preference to. Silva is one of those and alongside the fact he is 89 rated and yet to pick up an IF I dont think they will pass up on this one. The Brazilian scored one of the five goals, claiming a 7/10 from L'equipe.

Daley Blind - LB - 81 OVR

Once again it was Ibra who stood out for Manchester United with a goal and two assists to his name however I can't see the Swede picking up another IF so close to his first. Due to that I have opted for Blind who scored one of the three goals in United's 3-1 win over Sunderland.

Midfielders

Stephan El Shaarawy - LW - 81 OVR

A bit of a punt here but El Shaarawy claimed MOTM with a 7.5 from Gazzetta which in a week with only a few leagues playing could well see him make the cut. The Italian winger scored a wonderful freekick to spur on the Roma comeback just before halftime.

Federico Bernardeschi - LM - 78 OVR

It's starting to become a little suspicious with the amount of times Bernardeschi has missed out on TOTW selections but once again he has put in a worthy performances, for the fourth time this year already. Once again it comes in the form of two goals and an assist and once again he has a factor against him. This time its the fact that they drew 3-3 however with an 8.5 and player of the week to his name surely this is his moment.

Thiago  - CM - 84 OVR

With both sides level on points it was important for Bayern to set their mark on the surprising Leipzig and that is exactly what happened as they recorded a comfortable 3-0 home win. Spaniard Thiago was their main man picking up both a goal and assist, claiming Bundesliga player of the week in the process.

Wesley Sneijder - CAM - 83 OVR

The Turkish league is one of the few which play on Christmas day and it was Galatasaray fans who were provided with a Christmas treat as they saw their side walk to a 5-1 home win. Sneijder picked up MOTM after scoring one and providing another two.

Jermain Lens - RW - 79 OVR

Although it is unusual that we see more than one IF from the Turkish league in a particular side with only a limited amount of games taking place it could well happen this time around. Lens was involved in two of three Fene goals with both a goal and assist and with this match being featured in MM's it will only help his cause.

Pedro - LW - 83 OVR

Chelsea once again continued their dominant run of form with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth. Pedro was the main man, scoring arguably two goals although one may go down as an own goal. Either way I think the Spaniard can sneak in due to the lack of BPL names available to select from.

Forwards

Mauro Icardi - ST - 86 OVR

It's been quite the season for Icardi who leads the race for the Italian golden boot with an impressive 14 goals to his name. The Argentine overtook Torino's Belotti courtesy of his brace in Inter's 3-0 home win over Lazio.

Substitutes

Nahuel Guzman - GK - 78 OVR

In a feisty Mexican league final which saw five, yes five red cards, a hero emerged in the end. Once again it came in the form of a keeper with the match going all the way to penalties. The penalties were over before you knew it though with Guzman saving all three America pens to help Tigres lift the title by winning 3-0 in the penalty shoot out.

Rhyan Grant - RB - 64 OVR

There are a couple of players which could sneak in from Sydney's 4-0 away win over Adelaide however I have opted for Grant who scored one and assisted another from RB over the likes of Brosque who scored two and Ninkovic who assisted two. I expect Sydney to feature in the side but the player is up for debate.

David Wheater - CB - 69 OVR

A defender of which I don't expect to miss out is that of Wheater. The centre back scored both of Bolton's goals as they narrowly recorded a 2-1 win at home to Shrewsbury. As mentioned in previous weeks it looks as though the ELL is going to be featured on a regular basis after a clear deal was made with the ELL website of which links EA's database to each of their players in TOTW.

Serdar Gurler - RM - 72 OVR

Even though I was debating over the selection of just two Super Ligue players I have gone and selected a third. Gurler scored twice and assisted another as Genclerbirligi recorded a 3-1 home win.

Billy Bodin - RM - 64 OVR

An Npower selection which is clearly going to make the cut is Bristols Bodin after the Welsh midfielder found the net on three seperate occasions to help them to a 4-1 home win over Coventry of whom continue to struggle in the division.

Branimir Hrgota - ST - 71 OVR

A player which may be worth picking up due to the inevitable POTM Ibra which is just around the corner. Hrgota makes the cut after picking up MOTM with a 1.5 for Frankfurt courtesy of a couple of goals in their 3-0 win. Hradecky also stands a chance from this match but the official MOTM surely takes preference.

Diego Farias - ST - 74 OVR

Farias looks set to continue his streak of being one of the best silver items available after his brace and assist saw him pick up an impressive 8 match rating from Gazzetta. Cagliari went on to narrowly beat Sassuolo by four goals to three.

Reserves

Winston Reid - CB - 81 OVR

Another iffy BPL defender now in Winston Reid after the New Zealand defender scored one in a game which he also conceded. West ham went on to easily win by four goals to one in a match which only further confirms Swansea's problems.

Ruud Vormer - CM - 77 OVR

I dont have a reliable source for the Belgian Pro league however after Vormer managed to bag himself a brace for Brugge in a 4-1 away win he should be capable of making the reserves. It was a result which saw Brugge maintain their advantage being just a point behind with a game in hand.

Jimmy Briand - LW - 76 OVR

Although Guingamp failed to win thanks to a 91st minute OG I still feel as though Briand will sneak his way into the side after scoring both their goals in a 2-2 away draw. He claimed the average 7/10 match rating but with no real stand out performances in Ligue 1 two goals really does stand out.

Omar Al Soma - ST - 78 OVR

Although he is nigh on impossible to link into a side outside of the Saudi league a SIF Al Soma does look mighty fine. The Syrian striker scored twice on Thursday evening during his sides 4-1 win in order  to claim his spot in the prediction.

Lukasz Teodorczyk - ST - 75 OVR

Anderlecht's striker, Lukasz was heavily involved in both the wins they recorded this game week. Firstly scoring twice in a 3-2 away win over Gent before grabbing both a goal and assist in a 2-0 away win over Charleroi to help put the pressure back onto Club Brugge.
