FIFA 17 TOTW Predictions - Week 17

After the English based side of last week the FA Cup makes this one the polar opposite. Please remember that the FA Cup games do not count towards the selection process

Last weeks score 14/23

Formation: 3-4-2-1 -

Wojciech Szczesny - GK - 79 OVR

Believe it or not Szczesny is actually still on loan from Arsenal despite not playing for them since 2015. The Polish stopper marked his 52nd appearence for the Italian oulet by making multiple top drawer saves in their 1-0 away win over Genoa which saw him claim a huge 8/10.

Ryan Shawcross - CB - 81 OVR

Although it was a break for the BPL there were still a handful of mid week fixtures to take account for. Shawcross comes from one of those after he picked up MOTM for his goal in the Potters 2-0 home win over Watford. Charlie Adam assisted both the goals but two players could well be classed as over the top.

Lorenzo Tonelli - CB - 79 OVR

Tonelli completed a late turnaround for Napoli by scoring in the 95th minute to help them record a 2-1 win at home to Sampdoria. The CB claimed MOTM and although it was with a mediocre score with the lack of games being played it could well be enough for him.

Mateo Musacchio - CB - 83 OVR

This spot could easily be given to a silver if EA decide to ignore the Villarreal vs Barca game and seeing as there were no stand out performers that could well end up being the case. Musacchio is arguably the best option though after putting in a shift at the back to help Villarreal come away with a 1-1 draw.

Ivan Perisic - LM - 83 OVR

Inter made it four consecutive league wins, winning 2-1 away to Udinese. Perisic scored both of the goals which saw him pick up a 7.5 from Gazzetta and thus putting the Croatian in a very good position to make the cut.

Christian Eriksen - CAM - 84 OVR

It was Dele Alli who once again stole the headlines for Spurs as his brace ended Chelsea's 13 game winning streak as Tottenham made a statement of intent. Alli can't receive an IF due to being in the current side however I cant see the game being ignored. Due to that I have gone for Eriksen of whom put in both crosses for the goals.

Iago Aspas - RW - 81 OVR

Outside of the usual aspects Aspas has been the star of La Liga so far. After somewhat failing to make an impact outside of the division he has hit the ground running in it and now has an impressive 11 goals to his name after notching another in a 3-1 win over Malaga. He was occupying a wide role which could actually help his inclusion after just a goal and assist to his name.

Isco - RW - 84 OVR

There are multiple options from Madrids 5-0 home win over Granada and we could even see two make the cut. I have solely gone for Isco though, who unfortunately payed out wide. Isco was the only player to score ore than once, with two to his name which could easily be the deciding factor.

Oliver Giroud - ST - 83 OVR

With Arsenal falling three goals behind Bournemouth with just twenty minutes to play you would be forgiven for saying that the game was already over. Giroud, who has been Arsenals star man of late had other ideas though, scoring once and assisting another two to level the score. Although the cup game takes no toll on proceedings the Frenchman also scored to winner to see Arsenal progress there.

Gonzalo Higuain - ST - 88 OVR

Considering this would be both a 91 rated item and a TIF Higuain's brace may not be quite enough however with the lack of names available alongside the lack of options if there ever was a time for it to happen that time is now. The Argentine scored two of three Juve goals as they recorded a comfortable 3-0 home win.

Wissam Ben Yedder - ST - 80 OVR

Theres still not that much talk surrounding Sevilla but the Spanish outlet are maintaining the chase remaining in second position with an impressive 4-0 away win over Sociedad. Yedder was involved in every goal with three of his own along with an assist for Sarabia.

Rafael Defendi - GK - 71 OVR

Porto dropped more points as Benfica extend their lead to six points at the top which largely comes down to Ferreira's keeper, Defendi. The Brazilian stopper made a total of seven saves as Porto were held to a 0-0. Rafael was by far the MOTM and claimed an 8/10 for his efforts.

Ricardo Santos - CB - 62 OVR

With a massive six bronzes making the cut last week we could be in for another bunch this time after multiple lower league players put shifts in. One of those players is Barnet's Santos who scored twice from the back in their 3-1 away win over Leyton Orient. As far as bronze IF's go this one could be pretty good.

Jesus Molina - CM - 74 OVR

I still really dont know what to make of Monday games but either way I have opted to include Molina who comes from one. The Mexican midfielder scored twice for Monterrey as they managed to open the campaign with a 3-2 away win over Puebla.

Erbin Trejo - CM - 69 OVR

The Mexican league started a new campaign this week and due to that I feel as though they could pick up several IF's. I have just the three predicted but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised to see more. Trejo gets his spot for his two goals in Toluca's 4-1 home win.

Matt Godden - ST - 59 OVR

The first of three bronze strikers I have selected is Godden after the Stevenage striker put three goals past hapless Newport in a 3-1 win. Newport who have previously looked strong in the division are now without a win in ten of which nine have been losses.

Kurtis Guthrie - ST - 57 OVR

Colchester are now set to pick up back to back IF's after their striker, Guthrie managed to bag himself a hat trick during their 4-1 win over 3rd placed Carlisle. Now with seven wins and a draw from their last eight games Colchester are flying up the table as they look to press for a promotion challenge.

Ellis Harrison - ST - 61 OVR

For a side the size of Bristol Rovers it would be rare to see them pick up more than one special item over the course of the season but Harrison has all but confirmed their fourth now. The Welsh striker managed to put four past Northampton as they cruised to a 5-0 home win as they climb ever closer towards the play off spots.

Hirving Lozano - LM - 76 OVR

After being heavily linked with a move away from Mexico Lozano opted to stay put for the time being. Interest will surely be rising however as the youngster bagged himself another hat trick this week during Pachua's 4-2 away win over Club Leon to kick his season off in style.

Jonathon Viera - CM - 80 OVR

For my punt of the week we have Viera who although contributed to no goals was behind everything that LP did going forward and also hit the woodwork twice. His performance didn't go unnoticed with him picking up MOTM with a perfect rating from Marca.

Alejandro Gomez - ST - 80 OVR

If ever you thought I love Giovinco but I can't quite fit him into my side you look set to have an almost identical player with the incoming positional change for Gomez. The Argentine looks to have played up top alongside Petagna and rewarded Atalanta with two goals during their 4-1 win.

Bas Dost - ST - 78 OVR

With both Porto and Braga dropping points it was a good chance for Sporting to close the gap and it was a chance they managed to pounce on. The damage was done early on with Dost scoring in both the 5th and 17th minutes to help secure a 2-1 win.

Bobo - ST - 75 OVR

The A-League golds sure do know when to perform. With another week of not many leagues playing a Bobo brace should easily be enough with him being a gold selection. His goals were crucial as Sydney went on to scrape a 3-2 away win over Central Coast Mariners.
