TOTW Predictions - Week 20

No BPL due to the FA cup this weekend and due to that we don't have the most exciting of sides. There is potential for the likes of Robben, Alex Sandro and Wesley Sneijder though

Last weeks score 12/23

Formation: 3-4-2-1 - http://www.futhead.com/17/squads/4268024/

Goalkeeper

Stefano Sorrentino - GK - 80 OVR

Chievo pulled off a surprise 1-0 away win against Lazio of whom are now starting to lose their early season form with three losses in their last five matches. It could have been a different story had it not have been for Sorrentino though, The Italian stopper made a total of eight saves to deny Lazio and went on to claim MOTM with a 7.5 from Gazzetta.

Defenders

Alex Sandro - LB - 84 OVR

We have seen big name players get in for minimal things recently and it looks like that trend will continue. It may take a few weeks to fully adapt to but I shall be taking more punts on them from this point on. Sandro is one of those and although he didn't claim MOTM he picked up a respectable 7/10 for his assist and clean sheet in Juventus's 2-0 win.

Carlos Izquierdoz - CB - 75 OVR

The Mexican league has started to pick up several IF's recently after previously being overlooked on numerous occasions. I have decided to take the punt on Izquierdoz because of that after the Argentine scored one of two Santos goals in their 2-0 home win.

Alvaro - CB - 77 OVR

There were a handful of defenders which performed to a high standard this week which could see EA opt for more than three golds. Alvaro is arguably the best option after the Spaniard claimed both a goal and assist in Villarreal's 2-0 home win over Granada.

Midfielders

Muniain - LW - 78 OVR

Muniain has been on the radar a lot recently and I think that could come into consideration when selecting the final side. It was another strong performance from the Spaniard this week which saw him being involved in both Bilbao goals, scoring one before winning the penalty which Aduriz put away.

Wesley Sneijder - CAM - 83 OVR

Although not to the same extent of previous years I would still class Sneijder as a big name player just simply for his status. The Dutch midfielder played a big part in Galatasaray's 6-0 thrasing of Akhisar where he managed to pick up three assists. Although he didn't pick up MOTM his name and the fact we have seen several clubs pick up two recently should work in his favour.

Mateo Kovacic - CM - 79 OVR

Kovacic doesn't always get the game time due to the sheer talent Madrid possess but he definitely has potential. The young Croatian was the stand out player during Madrid's 3-0 home win over Sociedad claiming 3* from Marca with a goal and assist.

Arjen Robben - RM - 87 OVR

This one really does feel awkward to predict as I personally don't feel that he should be near the side. That being said with the lack of big names available for selection EA, going off previous weeks will be looking for at least a couple. Thats where I believe Robben could fit in. The Bundesliga was full of low name performers and Robben based on kickers TOTW thus meaning he will stand out despite only scoring once in a 2-1 win.

Forwards

Bafetimbi Gomis - ST - 78 OVR

The Frenchman failed to stand out during his time in England but now that he is back at Marseille he looks to be back at his best. The striker scored three times during their 5-1 home win over Montpellier which saw him pick up MOTM with an 8/10 from L'Equipe. Just imagine a dynamic photo of that panther celebration.

Lars Stindl - ST - 81 OVR

Although Stindl was not officially player of the week he still picked up the highest possible kicker mark and thus almost makes him a certainty for the side. The German striker scored twice for Gladbach as they scraped to three points with a 3-2 away win at Leverkusen.

Sergi Enrich - ST - 77 OVR

There were a few strikers with a goal and two assists to their name this week and a couple have made their way into my prediction as a result of it. Enrich did just that during Eibar's 3-1 home win over Deportivo and claimed 3*'s for doing so.

Substitutes

Ali Al Mazaidi - GK - 63 OVR

The sub keeper has been next to impossible to predict recently and once again it's a difficult position to fill. I have taken what can only be classed as a punt with Al Mazaidi after the Saudi keeper made a total of six saves, one of which was superb during his sides 1-0 win.

Jason McCarthy - RWB - 61 OVR

It's going to take a while to define the difference between RWB and RM as more and more sides opt to select the formation, Walsall are another one of those sides and it was McCarthy who was given the role. He delivered in style finding the back of the net twice. This one is largely dependent on the position but at RWB he should get the nod.

Niall McGinn - RM - 71 OVR

McGinn always seems to be among the goals for Aberdeen and although he has not picked up an IF since Fifa 14 he has been one of their stand out players for many seasons now. With the lack of English games being played this week it only enhances his chances after he scored twice and assisted another in their 3-0 home win.

Guray Vural - RM - 73 OVR

Kayserispor pulled off a surprising 4-1 home win against Fenerbahce this weekend which deserves an IF by itself and thankfully there was a stand out performer from the match. Vural was involved in three of their goals with two goals and an assist which as you may guess saw him pick up MOTM.

Pierre Lees-Melou - CM - 70 OVR

Dijon played out an enthralling 3-2 win away at Lorient on Saturday and within that game Lees-Melou put in one of the better performances in France with a goal and assist. His performance was rewarded with an 8/10 from L'Equipe and although its low on paper for a non gold to get in with that match rating will take a toll.

Yuya Osako - ST - 73 OVR

Osako picked up Bundesliga player of the week as a result if his brace and assist during an unusual high scoring Koln match. Koln ended up winning the match 6-1 which is the first time in seven games of which either side has scored more than once.

Diego Falcinelli - ST - 70 OVR

Italys player of the week goes to an unusual name after Falcinelli impressed during Crotone's 4-1 home win against Empoli. The 25 year old forward scored three of the four goals which saw him pick up a huge 8.5 match rating resulting in no doubts about his selection.

Reserves

Jean-Francois Gillet - GK - 75 OVR

I'm not sure how to describe just how good this performances looks on paper. Liege ended the match with nine men while playing away at Anderlecht and played 88 minutes of the match with 10 men. Liege somehow managed to come away with a 0-0 draw and they have one man to thank for that after Gillet managed an impressive 12, yes 12 saves. Stats sometimes speak for themselves and surely Gillet can't miss out.

Florian Thauvin - RM - 77 OVR

Although it was Gomis who stood out for Marseille, Thauvin also put in a shift for the French outlet. The winger was involved in two goals with both a goal and assist to also pick up an 8/10 from L'Equipe.

Bruma - LM - 77 OVR

The second Galatasaray player to make the cut from their previously mentioned 6-0 romping is Bruma. The Portuguese winger picked up MOTM after he scored two of the six goals and impressed throughout.

Scott Sinclair - ST - 75 OVR

There was always potential surrounding Sinclair but the move to Manchester City pretty much destroyed that. He has picked up some from since moving to Celtic though and with another two goals and an assist to his name in Celtic's 4-0 win he looks set to pick up his second IF since moving to the Scottish side.

Luis Muriel - ST - 76 OVR

Another player used predominantly for his pace is Muriel, the Colombian striker was involved in all three Sampdoria goals with a goal and two assists as they upset Roma with a 3-2 home win. Muriel went on to claim MOTM with an 8/10 from Gazzetta which all but confirms his place in the side.
